Title: Bumper problems!
Post by: gti si on 20 August 2006, 18:29
Hi all, i'm new to this forum so forgive me is this topic has been brought up before.
I have an 91 gti with the small bumpers and recently i've noticed than i can completely remove the rear bumper by hand, i thought there was meant to be screws or something on this? i cant find any screw holes on the bumper, i need to get this secured on as i have a MOT soon. thanks Si

Under the rear of the car each side there is wholes for bolts to hold the brackets into place. Should be easy to spot.

Stick some bots in 'em and job done.

are u left with a metal beam on the car? cos if u are the bumper skin is coming off they clip and screw on but u gotta take the bumper iron off to do it. if 2 prong things are sticking out the bumper then u just need to bolt it to the car. 4bolts 2 each side either side of the fuel tank

17mm socket needed for them.

Just be careful with them being recessed and most jobs done at kurb edge it's pretty easy to end up rounding them 17mm bolts!!!   :embarassed:
