Title: Vacuum Leak - Why no Jubilee Clips ?
Post by: Xiotis on 20 August 2006, 16:41
I am trying to find the cause of a rough lumpy idle on my GTI 16V and I removed the ISV and no change.

What I did notice though was that the pipes from the air intake boot to the ISV are fitted fairly loosely among each other (rubber to platic pipe) and don't have any jubilee clips on them. Would they have originally had clips on them?

CheerZ!

Thanks Veedub.

I have seen so many without that I was thinking it was the norm!

Just to clarify what I mean, here is a random pic I found on the net which is like mine and is missing the clips (marked with yellow arrows).

I have seen some with and some without, as a precaution i will put come clips on mine.

That valver is a transplant from a (US or Canadian not sure) Spec 2.0 16V Passat.

Here is where I found the pic from http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=1763775

Hi Gambit,

No I didnt think to check them .  I will spray some WD40 on them and see if there is a change in idle.

Thanks for the tip.

I put clips on all mine as any leak will screw up the metering.
