I have recently bought a used stainless back box for my 91 16v golf. I then bought a brand new system to match up. The problem is the back box is slightly blowing out. Should i get this welded or return it and buy a brand new(very expensive)one?
-
just get it welded i split mine and a welding/machine shop welded it up for me for beer tokens bloke done it on his lunch break
-
Thanks for your advice but can any welder do it or does it have to be a specialist?
-
nah any welder can weld it just tell them its stainless steel cos its a slightly different process but any good welder should be a ble to do it. it will have to be off the car tho
where are u in the country?
-
Hi, i am in n.ireland and once again thanks for your reply. There is an outlet 5 miles from me who make stainless exhausts so i will try them tomorrow--bye
-
oh ok i was gonna tell u the address of the place i used but im on the mainland lol hope u get it sorted dude
-
stainless steel to mild steel is a complete dog to weld.
-
Right, got it welded with a tig welder and it worked perfectly. Am slightly surprised that the rest of the scorpion system wasn't 100% easy to fit due to slight differences in the width of the pipe at the joins. Any body else experienced this?

u would want a slight difference tbh so that one tube can slide over the other lol if u get difficulties to get it to seal get some of the exhaust clips from vw (off a pissrat i think) they are hardcore and sorted mine out a treat
