Title: new car.........
Post by: joeygti on 18 August 2006, 14:30
ok so after 4 years of fiesta's and dads insurance ive finaly gone out and got myself a decent car....

01reg, mk4 golf, 1.8 gti turbo, chipped to 190 bhp, 40kmiles ect

went and bought her yesterday didnt think twice about insurance until i got back. im only 20 so this was abit of a prob with the gti.

half the companys wouldnt quote me some were 4k some 3.5k ect. then tried it on my dads insurance best i got was 1.7k then found a random company that did 2k in my name. just bought the insurance. are any of u in the same situation with age ect, do u think this is a good insururance price?

cheers
joe

Call me old fashioned but I'd have checked the insurance before buying the car.

2k is probably a good deal at 20, but I would personally never ever in a million squillion years give an insurance company so much money in one year.

Which insurance company gives NCD to named drivers, is it Direct line ? I can hear the advert in my head but I can't think who it is. I'd get my dad to insure it and put myself as a named driver with them, or I'd at least ring them for a quote.

what insurance company are you with joey. I was looking for quotes for mark 4 GTI Turbo's a while back jsut as an idea and got told thanks but no thanks by most places. How many no claims have you got?

I pay a lot for my car on insurance but I am not really bothered I would be knackered with out a car so am prepared to pay it, its a scam I know but it just one of them things isnt it!

P.s Gibby, i am pretty sure it is with Direct line

it is direct line, i`m a named driver on the other half`s policy and have now built up some no claims, and the policy was cheaper with me on it bargain
