I'm replacing my electric windows which were an electric life kit with a genuine VAG set and I've met a problem. One of the holes that the new regulator and motor needs to go through has a threaded thing (sorry, only way I can describe it) which one of the bolts from the old setup went through.
This threaded thing is obviously preventing me from putting the new mechanism in and needs removing but I can't figure out for the life of me how to get it off.
Here are some photos of the offending article.

Apologies for my sh!tty camera work.
Can anyone shed some light on it?

hi mate
i dont think you need to remove that bolt thing.
Ive fitted vag electrics to mine and the motor sits more to the right in the picture.
-
In the holes under the square hole in which the manual winder sits?
-
that threaded bolt or whatever you want to call it that you have circled is what your arm on your door skin screws into so no dont go trying to remove that hey. The bits your fitting should be much further over on the lright of the door, exactly where the manual winder use to live. If its genuine VAG it hsould fit easy peasy

Your door doesn't exactly have much sound proofing material. I guess your not going for a stripped racer look if you've got electric windows.
-
yup leave those alone, nothing to do with the window mechs. Make sure you're fitting the mechs in the right door ;)

Right, thanks for clearing that up guys. Got the mechanism in the right place now, but the metal lifting plate that is attached to the glass by a rubber seal needs to slide across a little to be bolted to the new mechanism.
Any tips on how to do this as I can't seem to budge the f**k*r for love nor money?

Carefully prise it off the glass. Washing liquid or wd40 may help. Then clean and move it to where you want it.
-
how much is a little?? it shouldnt really need moved at all - so now im sorta wondering are you trying to fit electric windows for earlier two piece glass door into a later one piece glass door?

Hmmm good point.
