Title: Calling all bodyshop ppl - chop advice needed. Now working!
Post by: Brads MK2 GTI on 17 August 2006, 11:58
Okay guys,

Anyone with bodyshop experiance, how much do you think to chop a MK2 rear end like this? Obv you'd need a 3 door, new panel for the tailgate and new panel behing the driver in the middle. Anyone got any ideas?

No body got any idea? I'm really thinking of buying another MK2 GTI and doing this. When I gig with the band and we don't hire a van it'd be well handy, get loads of gear in there. Plus it looks well cool as well :)

I like it but being in a band myself i don't think you would get more in there than a standard body.  Although yes it looks cool! Either way a mk2 with no rear seats would pack more in!

It used to be a popular (ish) thing to do to a MK3 escort estate a few years back. I can remember the rollover bars being very important to stop the whole thing breaking its back due to the loss of the roof. People used to put a Britax style sunroof in the rear panel behind the seats as an opening window!
