Title: RE : Newbie question about anti Roll Bars
Post by: pablo on 16 August 2006, 10:09
Hi,

I have a mk 3 golf gti 2.0 8v.  Are the anti Roll bars (cheers Len405 for the right terminology, I did put roll bars!) on the VR6 or 16 v better than the roll bars on me 8v GTI?  Can any one recommend any Roll Bars?

My current driving experience is making me

Cheers,

Paul

Get used to it mate! Thats why the unkind around here call our cars boats!

Not sure about any of the standard ones being stiffer anti-roll bars.
(Roll bars are what ya put inside to brace the body for race/rallying.

Have looked at Eibach myself and its a bit expensive - bout £230 plus fitting and new bushes.

Why not fit powerflex bushes to the anti roll bar's, cheaper than eibach conversion (which I believe don't replace the original's they are fitted along side using new mounting point's?) and as for 16v or vr6 one's, all the bushes for these are the same and the sizes are identical.

Cheers for the advice.

I was hoping that the anti - roll bars on a 16 v or VR6 were better than the anti - roll bars on a 8v so I could get a cheap mod and better handling.

Looks as though I will get a better handling by upgrading me suspension, springs and bushes.  Will see what the handlings like and then may look at anti - roll bars.

Thinking of:

Power Flex bushes, Koni adjustable suspension, Eibach springs

Is this a good combo?

Will I need new stops and should I also look at any other bits while I am changing the suspension?

Def looking forward to better handling and a lowered look!

sounds like a good set up to me. best of everything.
yes, get new bump stops and also fit new front top mounts (genuine VW)while you're at it.

Probably get slated for this but.......

Spax adjustables are just as good as Koni's but cheaper!
And there are cheaper springs than eibach.

Try looking at Larkspeed's website I always find they are cheaper than most.
