I know this is a common fault but how do you fix it?
Just bought a mk2 gti 8v and it crunch's to put in second gear. Whats the cheapest and easiest way to fix it?
Thanks in advance for any help.

You could try using a different Gearbox oil, Redline MTL is excellent. A weighted shift rod from a MK3 won't help the cruch but will make the change feel a lot better. If the oil doesn't work see how it goes. It's the syncromesh you see, which can't be fixed without a rebuild.

Tell me about it! Buy a scrapper gearbox for about £35 or get a reconditioned for about £300

i got a weighted shift rod from a scrapy yesterday for free.
improvement in selecting gears and stoped the crunch.
go to a land rover dealership and buy gearbox oil from them maybe? heard its cheaper and better
