Title: Advice on 1988 GT TDI
Post by: Organisys on 15 August 2006, 12:52
Hi peeps,

My Father is looking at a 1998 GT TDI.
Questions..

What engines could this have? 100? 115 150ps ?

What came standard? climate? 6CD? what else? sunroof?

5 or six speed?

any advice on what to look for?

you'll be looking at 90, 100 and 110 iirc  :undecided:

all will be 5 speed as the PD engines weren't introduced until a couple of years later.

climate and 6CD are options but he should get air con as standard.  sunroof was also an option i believe

check out the common faults thread at the top of the section but generally TDI engines are strong units with little going wrong

Being a GT TDI, I would expect it to be a 110, for that year. The 100 and 90 were fitted to lower spec models. I think I am also correct in saying that all GT TDI's have a sunroof as standard equipment, alloys, air con etc. Climate and 6 CD would have been an option as already correctly said.

climate is a very good option, but just gives something else to go wrong if you ask me  :undecided:
Alloys were also standard, if a little small by todays standards.

good cars though
