i had it about 50mm lowered and today it sits like a standard 16v was supposed to, now i can drive over bumps without smashing my head on the roof AND my cd player doesnt skip all the time!!!! happy happy days!!
-
Thank God!!! Someone who talks sense at last! I've nothing against a little bit of lowering, but why make it sit on it's belly? You've gotta drive on Her Majitey's highways, not silverstone!
-
right get out, the pair of you and wash yer mouths with soap
-
Will not! Just to piss you guys off I might see if I can RAISE mine even more! 40mm raise anyone!? Nah only kidding, like I said I'm not against a bit of lowering, but only in proportion! Mine needs a 20 - 40mm drop doing but no more!
-
haha, im getting a standard exhaust soon too, the noisy ones p!ssing me off
-
slammed and rimmed is the only way forward...........
if i had the money i would go lower and mines a -40mm drop at the mo
standard exhasut sound rumbly and ok tho lol
-
i wouldnt mind low but on the roads here it sucks! there isnt a flat road for miles!
-
With modding being so popular I wonder if this Un-modding will catch on
-
yeah, so far ive un-modded my airbox and suspension, i also need to un-mod my exhaust and then my dodgy re-spray
-
One day i will show you all what lowered is meant to look like.
-
^^ i'm thinking of going lower at the moment... just for the hell of it! :P
-
joe, if you go lower you wont be able to park next to kerbs, you aint gonna be able to open the doors soon...
-
As soom as I get a bit of archwork done I'll be going lower
Downwards is the only way to go!! (Maybe occasionally forwards  )
-
if you went any lower joe then the car will be held up by the front bumper and the back box and the wheels wouldnt actually touch the ground!
-
golfs look so hard lowered tho its their shape i think it just looks phat on the deck

I know you're joking, but part of the fun for me with my car is keeping it as original as possible, seeing as how everyone else adds the same "individual" touches. :) I even got an undrilled airbox to retrofit.
-
Yes, suspension that absorbs bumps - that's a novel idea!
-
I guess it comes down to the old "style over substance" argument. Myself just a small drop is what's needed, still looks great, and still feels great too.
-

I actually laughed out loud then!
-
you lot (the un-modifyers) are starting to sound like your dads.. a comfy ride and practicality shouldnt be in your vocabulary.!!
-
if we all liked the same things this place would be a hell of a lot duller for a start! I personally prefer the very lowered look. Get it in the dirt where it belongs!
-
i actually REALLY miss how low my car was before , im not sure how low it was but it was on the arches, but i do prefere how soft the ride is now, speed bumps i can hardly feel compared to driving over them at 2 miles an hour to avoid the bang. its bliss and its still a little low
-
I went out in the G60 today with the Mrs, my mate and his Mrs, and it was scrubbing both fronts, and the chin spoiler was making some nasty noises over curbs, in cars parks etc... who cares tho when your car looks good!

yeah thats about how low mine was and i miss it, but! i have to say the comfort still wins with me!
-
I know what you mean tho dude, My daily is a 8v and its only down about 30ish on Eibach, great for a daily, handles pretty good too.
-
16v chin spoilers are ideal for lowered cars, they just bend backwards on speed humps and then spring back into position after

You weren't driving near Guildford on friday where ya (about 6ish)...drove past a G60 the same colour as yours and nearly went in the back of the car in front when i turned to get another look.... :embarassed:
-
I'll go and stand outside with the un-modifiers then!
Mine's dropped 40mm and that's plenty! It's completely bog standard everywhere else. I'm a big fan of retro cars looking retro. Not planning on doing anything to it other than return it to it's former 90's stylee! Got a red trimmed GTI grill with twin Hellas to fit to replace the boring single lamp de-badged one. And in time I'll get the BBS 5spokes and the odd rust patch cleaned up.
Standard is the new modded! :smug:
-
Hey! Congratulations there my mine, lookinh standard-ish os looking good baby :)
