To be fair she's been running well for quite some time, but recently she's cut out whislt driving, completely flat - it appears the the electrics are working, so I was thinking it was a fuel problem. This morning, she won't start at all and i've just noticed that I can't hear the fuel pump whirring when i switch on the ignition?! The car is immobilised, but i think thats connected to the starter as without keying the immob, the starter doesn't turn.
Anyway, i'm off to check the leccy to the fuel pump and i'll let you know whether I have power.
just out of curiousity, how much are new Pumps. Its a 90 digipant.
Cheers

Its often the fuel pump relay also. Change this 1st before shelling out for a new pump.

Which number one is the relay??

Not sure but there was a post about the very same subject late last week so have a look and see if you can find it. If not in this section it might have been in the garage section.

ECU relay is #3, and Fuel pump relay is #12 (bottom right)

Thanks once again lads for the advice, and yes it turned out to the fule pump relay. It was all corroded and basically knackered. Changed it and hey presto, she's works a treat. In fact I think its more responsive now! Which is nice!
I don't think there would be any old Golf's on the road if it wasn't for the generous transfer of knowledge from all the members in this forum!
Diolch yn Fawr!!! (Thanks)
