Title: OIL for diesel PD - Halfords Job???

hey all, I know that my dear PD is petty for choice with oils, and VW have a specific one for it, but is there a standard oil that i can buy? or do you know the minimum oil specification?? Many thanks!!!!!

Halfords do sell the correct Castrol grade but its a 4 litre container (around £37) and you need 4.5 litres for an oil change so you have to buy either an extra 1 litre can (around £12) or 2, 4 litre cans :sad:

I bought mine from the VW dealer, £36 including vat for 5 litres and its proper VW stuff to 505 01 spec (standard service, you need different stuff for variable service intervals)
