When watching topgear, Clarckson states the maximum BHP for front wheel drive is 220.  So what is the point of tuning the GTI, unless your going to fit 4 motion, and then you might as well go for the R32 anyway.

You should try a modded VXR!!!!!

My mates chipped VXR is all over the road finding somewhere to put the power down!  It's been tuned to allow some acceleration in first and second, but blimey it struggles!  but once up there, bloody hell it's quick!!!  Not my kinda motor, to chavy but it's got it's place.....

Re R32 and Gti article, it's cool....  Each pig to it's own turnip and all that

Vauxhall Astra chassis have always been known for letting there horses escape.  What use is all that power, if you cant put it on the road.  My brother had a Astra GSI, K plate, with no modifications and that was the same.

Hello guys, should'nt listen to Clarkson he just talks out of his backside. The vaxhall will torque steer as they can't make a decent chassis.  The golf's MKV chassis how ever is a differnt story. I've had a Morego 250 upgarde and still with all that power and torque going through the frount wheels.Theres very little torque steer. The modifide frount wish bones and yokohama AVS sport may be helping to but sod tyre wear and fuel consumption if thats a problem buy a old fieta. How good a car is the MKV GTI ! Everything you'll ever need from a car, exept rear wheel drive.

Guys (and galls), I've had a read through these pages and and seen plenty of people metion AMD and Morego, but no one's mentioned Superchip, is that because they're not rated? Would appreciate your thoughts as was thinking of getting my MK5 GTI Superchiped.

Mucho grassyass!!

Don't no about superchips? Wasn't thinking about touching a 5 month old car at all until read the EVO mag report on the Morego 250. Takes alot for them to give a 5 star rating to any car. I'm of the thinking that if your going to mod your pride n joy take it to people you can trust. You don't last as long in the tuning bussines as BBR have if you a cowboy set up. As you said if you ring there always willing to talk and Neil has been great.
I loved the standard car and was a little apprehensive about a remapp  ruining the car. The price seemed to be a little steep in comparasion to what others tuners offered as well. But on the drive home i was lost for words. It feels so much smoother than the standard car and turned it from a fast car to a properly quick one. It has taken the car to another level and still feels standard when not pushing. The miltec is not intrusive at all, the chassis copes so well you'd be surprised (I was). I personally feel the breakes are at the limit at high motor way speed (which are higher and easyer to get to), i'm booked in with morego for a set of  AP 4pots. As for the price i now feel it's a bargin! I now longer morne the passing of my TSL tuned scooby. Don't think about it get it done you'll have a grin like this .

You would problay think Clarkson would receive is info from the manufactures.  He is a messenger/journalist, he probably now`s more about the engineering of a car, than Vauxhall now how to make a chassis.

Ho well, he did do a sh!t hot review on the GTI
