hi I'm making a diy shelf for my Mk3 golf, just wondered if you had any ideas on what to use for it the open up the the hatch like the original shelf does?

I used a bit of wire cable. Bit of black single core from 13amp household cable.

Put a screw with washer into the MDF board (edge) looped the wire round that and tightened the screw.
Top bit I looped it over the existing pegs and wound it around itself and gaffer taped it.
Dont look good but works.

Gotta change it sometime and was thinking of some small chains. Ya can get small stuff from B&Q.

It'll rattle when closed. How about the standard stuff - it'll still be the right length!

Was thinking more of the plastic coated stuff.

The standard stuff aint man enough! Did try that first! Just kept slipping off.

i bought a pair of shelf straps of ebay, just got to fit them, hope they hold the weight!!
