Title: What's a EGR sensor?

Hi took my mk4 gti golf into garage today to get check engine light sorted out and the guy who connected it up to computer told me EGR sensor is gone or faulty what is it ?

EGR = exhaust gas regulator :undecided:, maybe, just a guess

i'm not sure, but i thought i heard someone called it the exhaust gas remix valve a while ago.. would be interested to know myself now  :nerd:

like gaz said, and it can block with sooty deposits thus causing a fault signal, if you read one of the "how to"guides at the top of this section -TDI- it describes how to clean it. not tried it myself, but sounds like what you're experiencing.
