Title: Centre console fit?

Orginally posted in MK3 section but think you guys may be able to help.

I have just acquired a LHD VW Golf MK3 VR6 centre console as a replacement for my RHD VW Golf MK3 1.8 GL 'L' plate to fit a Car PC touchscreen. I didn't expect any size or shape difference. The trouble is I haven't got the VW Golf MK3 yet as a friend is still doing the paintwork on it before he sells it to me. The part number for the LHD VW Golf MK3 VR6 centre console part number is 1H1 863243. Should it fit?

I have outlined the area of concern below.

The RHD centre console is part number 1H2 863243. I am hoping the only difference is the aspect of the cubby hole aperture and the fittings will be the same. If anyone has access to both or has come across this situation I would appreciate your experiance.

Any comments or suggestions.

No idea really. I would of thought the fittings were the same though. Why is the bit on the right an area of concern?

You have got a point. I have access to ETOS and wonder what's the VAG name of the part the Centre console attaches to. If there's no LHD or RHD it shouldn't matter.

Do you know the VAG part name?

i agree with ben i would of thought it would be the same, ive added ya to msn anyways being a fellow car pcer, we gotta stick together! lol

sorry to dissapoint but they are different, the top of the console slopes with the shape of the dash, but it slopes opposite way on a left hooker....

i can sell ya a right hand drive 1 tho...... :smug:

I've decided that I'll no longer need the LHD centre console. I'm getting rid of it for the cost of postage and packaging.
