Title: bbs wheel indentification, HELP
Post by: starsky on 23 December 2003, 10:21
I have the chance to buy some 15" bbs wheels and im not sure if there the right ones for my 1990 Golf gti. They look just like the 16v bbs wheels but just want to check if they are the right ones. The markings on the front of the rim are as follows :

135 TR 365. 194 ET38. KBA40599

Any help would be appreciated

Because I have a brand new unused boxed original 15" BBS from a 1990 spec 16v (in addition to the 4 on my car) I can check the markings this evening. The style of the original is known as an RA - increasing good second hand ones are like hens teeth and still ridiculously valuable. You can buy new ones from GPC (without centre caps or tyres), a snip at ?188 each!!!

done a bit of research on this. the wheels are 365mm in diameter that works out to 14" not 15". Also the tyres fitted are michelin TRX 190/55HR365 which i believe these are BMW E30 alloys. :'(

I have seen some 15" BMW wheels which are the exact same ones put on to the corrados but just have bmw centre caps!!

Could still buy them though cos i think they would fit? What are peoples views on putting BMW BBS wheels on to golfs?

Hi just checked my new BBS (original 1990 spec 16v fit) The markings are 375ET35 (the offset I believe). 6JX15H2 (width & diameter) and 165601025 (VW BBS part number I think). DO NOT RUSH to buy those BMW wheels - I think they may even be metric ones with impossible/very expensive to buy tyres.

CONFIRMED. DO NOT BUY THOSE BMW ALLOYS!!!! They are metric and the tyres are generally unavailable! (Just checked www.blackcircles.co.uk) who usually stock everything...
