I have just acquired a LHD VW Golf MK3 VR6 centre console as a replacement for my RHD VW Golf MK3 1.8 GL 'L' plate to fit a Car PC touchscreen. I didn't expect any size or shape difference. the trouble is I haven't got the VW Golf MK3 yet as a friend is still doing the paintwork on it before he sells it to me. The part number for the LHD VW Golf MK3 VR6 centre console is 1H1 863243. Should it fit?
I have outlined the area of concern below.

Any comments or suggestions.

I'm afraid LHD & RHD consoles have a different part number! I imagine the difference is that they face towards the driver, either that or the area they connect to the dash is different.

Damn, I thought they would be standard.
I suppose I'll have to eBay it.

might be worth hanging on to it anyway till the new car turns up, might look ok!

Yeah, good point . I think I'll hang onto it for a while.
Is there any VW Golf Mk3 catalogues online to establish the difference? (PMs or emails welcome )

The RHD part no. is 1H2 863243 and the LHD part no. is 1H1 863243.
I am hoping the only difference is the aspect of the cubby hole aperture and the fittings will be the same. If anyone (a trader) has access to both I would appreciate a comparison check. I'm still waiting for the VW Golf I'm buying to have the paintwork done. (it's from a mate)
I'll keep you updated anyway.
Cheers,
Dave

it'll fit, it'll just look slightly odd.

As long as it'll fit. Do this mean the tab etc. will all locate ok?
Do you mean because it'll come more over the drivers side?

If you're putting a touch screen in you would want it slightly off on that side to angle the screen towards you, so might be a good buy in the end
