Can all you MK3 GTI 16V owners please tell me what MPG you get from your motor, while spinning around town & on a long motorway run.
Cheers
-
Motorway driving i normally get around 34 mpg...round city driving is more like 24
-
Wow! I had no idea the 16v was that thirsty!
My 8v does 32 around town and 42 on long journies! ;D
-
i get 30ish round town and 36 - 38 on a run on the mororway, less if i am in a hurry :)
Depends a lot on how much ya boot it tho
-
Err, I wonder if something is up with my 8v in that case. Round town I get around 24 (I've seen this go as low as 13 before) and on the motorway I'm very lucky if I break 32, 29-30 being the norm cruising at 90-95.

Must be that fast tuned up engine you got! he he he ::)
-
must be somthing, as i can get 35+ easy out of my 16 valver :)
-
Valvers are more economical then 8v 2.0's period. If you reckon your getting 42 mpg out of a 8v? I would say your lying.
I have had two eight valves. One in GTi form and my current in cabriolet, and the highest i got from my gti in summer = 35 the lowester 13, the highest in my cab - 39 - lowest 17.
42 from an 8v? lol dont be stupid.
Hey vr6 dude you cant laugh, this is a MPG thread! I would have to remortage my house to afford to take a VR6 to work and back!
-
Yep, how can you say a 16v is more economical than an 8v? that is what you said?
-
I own an 8v (which I'm trying to sell!!!) and a 16v.
My 16v is definately more thirsty but there isnt much difference, it just depends on how you drive it.
-
It all depends on how fast you drive on the motorway and what town you drive in .
I get about 22-24 in london and about 34 on the motorway . thats with an 8v
-
Definately 32 combined.
I got that with a over 1000miles - With motorway journeys I'm usually sitting at 80-90mph.
Hope that helps.
