How can you show the W3C XHTML 1.0 tick mark when "This page is not Valid XHTML 1.0 Transitional!"

That's the YaBB SE software making that claim rather than me. What are you doing/running the forum on to get that message?

interesting, never looked at that before. a chunk of those error messages are fair enough as they are things I have added in but some are just the standard YaBB set up. guess I could just remove the link!
