Please help...I have just bought some crystal indicator's and fog lamp's, only problem is mine didn't come with fog lamp's and I am wondering if any body has retro fitted them before. I was thinking of wiring them to the main beam on the headlamp's but was wondering if I could fit them as originally fitted to the headlamp switch or maybe even a dashboard switch......
many thanks for reading and I will say a big big thanks to all who reply if I see you at the vw festival in leeds next month (my first vw show ever!!!!)

You will need to but a new headlight switch that can be pulled out in two stages - first for front fogs and second for rear fogs. Have a look on e-bay for this.
Then you will need to buy / make a small piece of wiring to connect from the fogs to the electrical connector block that is situated just above the radiator. You twist it and it comes apart.
Use an electrical tester to find out which spare terminal within the connector block receives power only when you pull the light switch out one notch - this is the terminal you need to use! (otherwise teh fogs will be on permanently!)
I have done it - its very simple!

I'd just add :
The wire colours are: "Grey" with a "Yellow tracer "which is the live feed for the front fogs from the headlamp switch.
Then just connect the earth side up to one of the free terminals on the negative battery clamp with a suitable length and capacity of wire. :nerd:
The front fogs will work with the ordinary switch but it also means that the rears will come on at the same time so it's best to get a 2 position switch as Chappers has already said

That's good that you managed to find one .
I made my own as I had all the relevent VAG plugs and connectors, as I some times had to make up looms at the VW dealership as some customers would ask for various things like fogs etc on more basic models.
VW could only supply the complete section of loom (which as you could imagine was a far more expensive and wasteful option than getting me to make up the section required )

i fitted them on a mk3 1.4 i used to have... if you cant find a switch then go to a scrappy and buy a second rear demister button... then wire into this cheap and nobody actually notices!!!!
