So, would you rather have a sexier looking Golf with a standard engine or a faster version of whatever engine but same looks.
E.g.
GTI performance (Im awaiting golfvr6's insult here) but with a Hella spoiler and different sexier bodykit, 17" wheels, lowered, Brembo discs and red calipers, blacked out windows, Magnex exhaust system etc etc
OR
a GTI 16v that gets to 60 in 6.5secs but looks the same as every other GTI 16v...
-
looks! the standard gti ain't slow by a long way. just tart it up a bit with blue and polished bits ;D
-
sexy with the other engine shoe horned in.. sorry ;) lol
if they did a fancy/pretty but watered down version i probably wouldnt want one at all..
-
yaeh, tarted one for me :-*
VR6 would probably have the 6.5 sec one as his insurance cant get any higher than on his VR6 :o
-
Id rather have the tarted up job... 3 reasons: -
1: Everyone drools over it as you park up and go shopping or cruise
2: Speed limit is 60Mph (70Mph on motorway)
3: I dont race often... Id rather have people WANTING to race me to see how quick the tarted up job is...
let em guess! ;D
-
nah that logic doesnt work
1.. they know you're a poser (didnt u see them spend 2 worthwhile minutes on top gear 2nite slaggin off the TT for being a posers car..)
2.. *cough*.. even so.. its not how fast u can go, its how fast u can get there ;)
3.. they'd know not to both since its obviously a tarted up car.. would be like trying to race a saxo furio (thats a 1.4 in vts clothing...)
-
i prefer the more standard look then blow em away! (not that eithe rof my golfs are 'fast' models) i like standard looks with a bit of drop and maybe wheels leave the rest to the posers!!!! ;D :D :D :D
-
I like the standard looks with power! you can't beat an unmolested golf.
Thats why i like the old Audis so much. Audi 90 20v quattro, doesn't look like it will go fast but 170bhp.
I was driving it a few months back when getting on the M3 some twit in a fiat brava decided he want to race me.
Ha Ha Ha see ya later :D
-
You can't beat when you pull up to the lights and a Vaxhall Corsa GTE/SRI pulls up with the full body kit on and wheels, slammed etc.... then you leave them standing.. I love it!!!!!
PS my new car is a 16v the 8v is going..... pictures soon..
Gaz ;)

I'd rather have a plain car with awesome power...
One day i'd like to shoehorn a v6 into a Nissan micra. Just for fun.
Nothing better than burning off a poser in my clapped out F plate Honda.
-
Yeah, Mk1 and Mk2 in particular, I love the look of them as they are......possibly just lower them a tad, but I wouldn't do anything more to them externally.
However, I do like 'db Sam' idea of sticking a 2.0 16V 9A engine into a Mk1.........woohoooo ;D fantastic engine in an 800kg car ;)
-
someone told me ive got a 16v 2.0l engine in my mk1... I thought they were just mad....
How would i check?
-
Danhock, if ya got the 16v in your mk1 then go and buy a complete 2.0 9A engine block from VW, for about 750 bar.
-
How would i know if i already had the 9a block?
-
It would be BLOODY fast. The engine number should be on the block somewhere. Check a manual.
-
it is bloody fast....
Torque steers like a muther.......
-
It?s got to be standard looks with awesome speed for me. I?m not really into the "wolf in sheep?s clothing" thing though. Just mk1 golf that can beet a Ferrari ;D ;D
-
Street sleeper's are all good! i would love one just so i could see the look on mister m3 as i embaress him in a rust bucket in front of his lady!
-
'wolf in sheeps clothing' i think that was the original idea of the gti.
-
cant fault em for bringin em out either its whats needed still today!!!!!, hey i reckon the prices off 1/2 them old cars on top gear last night have gone up by 20% today!!! :D
-
I thought this originally came from having a bog standard car which looks the same as the original but has had a heavily modified engine put in it.
