To be honest i would not recoment these cams. Kent are not very good and not recomended. Plus the exhaust lift is too low. You want a lift of at least 10.5. With cams you tend to get what you pay for, dont go for re-grinds. Ive just bought a set of schricks, not cheap but very good.

Oh bummer!
What about Piper then?
V16VBP270H-E   GTi 16v   Fast Road   H   264   10.39/10.87   22/62 62/22   2000-6500

Really cannot afford Schrick, and can only afford the others on an exchange basis!

Any other options?

If your limited on cash then go for a set of kents but if you can scrape together some extra then go for schricks. Have a look on german ebay cos you can get them cheaper there. Idealy you need to speak to an engine builder who knows their stuff and talk to them. I can recomend CAS in northallerton.

Looking at those figures id recomend the piper cams.

i got a kent cam in my 2.0 8v, and its ok, you get a kick about 3,500 rpm, and pulls really well, it is alot faster, however the ax power is at 4,500rpm which is very disapointing to be honest, hav had it on the rollers, had the cam timing adj and it just wont give anymore!

But as Mk2GTI2.016v said, you get what you pay for really!

i've asked a few of the online retailers, Piper seems to be more recommended than Kent, even thought Peter fisher (they guy who ported etc.. my head) said get Kent!

confused!

People tend to recomend kent simply cos its a well known name and there reasonably priced.

ring this guy www.theengineshop.info

He gets his cams made for the engine that I had put in mine.  He gets them from a place in Farmbrough, kent, Can't remember the name might be newman cams.

A mate of mine has just got a newman cam for his mk3 8v and it seems pretty good. Especially at top end where the 8v normally lacks power.

Id hazard a guess at take rather than give.  Also have you thought about getting a vernier to finish the job off properly. Without one your never gonna be able to fine tune the timing.

i'd think you'd b lucky to make 155hp tbh, just a cam isn't goin to do much, and yer you will prob need an adj pully to time up preoperly!
