Just bought a 1999 gtgdi golf seems to be holding back through the gears can anyone help or make a sugestion as to what i can do about this
-
is ur clutch slipping? i.e do the revs rise but you go no faster?
if not it's most likely a MAF problem; notorious for failing. think you can get a new one on an exchange basis for £80 from your local stealers :undecided:
what part of the rev range does your car seem to hold back?
-
no clutch not slippping seems to be holding back after 3000rpm
-
sounds like its fine then mate
your torque curve drops serverly after 3000rpm. get it remapped and that won't happen
all the power is between 1800rpm and around 3400rpm; after that there ain't much point hanging on to the gear. shift up and ride the next wave of torque
-
cheers for that what top end do you get from yours and what model is it
and can you tell me the difference in the tdi badges i noticed some are red ???????
-
mines the PD 130 version :smug:
good enough for an indicated 130mph..........
don't take much notice about the badges mate; it was all down to dealer choice as to what was stuck on the back
Only true way to tell what model you got is to look at the sticker in the spare wheel well.

cool will take a look
i have heard about somthing you can plug into trhe car to up the bhp you know anything about this sort of thing
-
you are on about tuning boxes I'm guessing :undecided:
I've no personal experience of the them I'm afraid. there seem to be mixed reports as to how well they work :undecided:

if you plug vag com in it will give it a torque figure, dunno about bhp tho
