Are you off to the motor show this week DOC?
-
Doc, you'll love the Cooper. I had a Cooper S for a few years before this, and although never got around to getting the Works conversion I drove a few of them at their Angmering HQ. Whatever you do, you need to take it to them if it needs work done, they are without a doubt the best garage i have ever dealt with. Very friendly and an amazing bunch of mechanics. They have built the most incredible custom mini's (old style and new) there. Believe me, if you go there you will be stunned, and be prepared to want to spend some more hard earned cash!! I haven't driven a GP obviously but i'm sure it will be awesome. The shriek the supercharger makes is going to get you addicted. Enjoy. And please post some pics. And if you go to Angmering please let me know!!

The way to stop the little swirls is to give you car a REALLY THOUROUGH CLEAN WITH A JET GUN before you go anywhere near the paint with your sponge - try it but spend 10 - 15 mins jetwashing first followed by plenty of soap and you should not ge them!

I only put my deposit down 2 weeks ago (ish) so its worth ringing around - Even though various articles saying that the mini GP had sold out I still got one!
It was pure luck really as I was calling the Mini garage regarding a Scooby P1 they had for sale (which had sold - its a car I allways liked but at the time I bought a Ralliart EVO 6 instead )
Whilst on the phone I asked about the GP - the reply was that with them being a new dealership and having spent so much money on it (photos to follow - no flames please noobs) and a really good one at that BMW had allocated them and extra 2 cars!
It may also have helped that it was in the top end of North Wales, in a mainly industrial area!
It gets on my wick when you see them for sale on e-bay and Auto trader at inflated prices when people like you and I really want one to keep
-

Hi everyone.
Got the following arriving on 2nd October - the wait is making me go mad.
VOLKSWAGEN GOLF 3DR 07 2.0TFSi GTi

Options
Factory Fit:
Pearlescent Paint
Front Centre ArmRest
Multifunction Computer Highline
18in Monza II Alloys
RCD500 With Dash 6CD Autochanger+Soundpk
Lthr Uph/Htd Seats/Head Rest/Lum Support
This spec was ordered off an 06 brochure so would have got them to factory fit the iPod connector if it was shown as an option. I will have to get the dealer to fit this, as well as a Nokia Bluetooth kit, as it is a company car and I am not allowed to make any modifications myself. Does anyone have an idea how much this will cost for the iPod kit and the labour to fit them both?
-
Is the ipod connector an option from the factory now???

yep and its mounted in the centre console with a dock for it, where the 6 cd in armrest would be.
-
Arse.
Anyone got any pictures of it?
If you tell me that bluetooth phone prep is a factory option also i really will be

-
Bluetooth prep  is a no but the Ipod or CD changer option is on the current price list!
-
Good picture. Thanks Block. I wonder if VW will release new cradles for new ipods as quickly as they do for new phones for their handsfree cradles. Or am i just being cynical?
-
It will take 'em years - they still dont have MP3's FFS
-
I have just had the dealer order me a ipod adapter and phone cradle and remove my 6 disc changer.
I am slightly peeved as I am paying £300 for an option that should be free for me. As I ordered the sat nav, oh well I guess that is just how things are. I will now picking up my car on the 4th of sep. I might ask for my 6 disc changer in the armrest, as it is mine as I have paid for it already.
Questions I had DOC, if you dont mind are.
Can I control my ipod from the steering wheel controls?
Will the names come up on the head unit.
I have an mp3 head unit on current car, so have numerous mp'3 cd's, hence ipod is the best option for me. As, I change my muisc all the time. Thanks DOC.
-
You can skip tracks with the steering wheel controls, adjust volume and mute, but that's about it. The names don't come up on the screen, just the last 2 digits of the track numbers. Assuming it is the same software that vw fitted for me.

Great pic Doc, retirement pressie for myself.
Only got the sun roof to compensate for getting rid of my Boxster. Had loads of VW/Audi's in the past and recent test drive at local VW dealer was akin to meeting an old friend. Black is a b!tch to keep clean but what else have I to do ? Well looking forward to it and enjoying this forum. No doubt you'll enjoy the R32 to the max !

-
I've had mine 6 months and it's superb. I had a a mk4 150 previously, so the extra oomph takes getting used to.
New GTi's seem to be fairly rare, I went up to Edinburgh last weekend and didn't see any during the 350 mile journey!
It's a fabulous car and red is an excellent choice.
Enjoy. :smug:
-
I had a Mk4 150bhp also - not bad but think this will wipe the floor with it ;-). In fact it will be my fifth golf:
Mk 1 1.1 in lemon yellow when I was 20
Mk 2 1.8GL in black when I was 24
Mk 1 GT1 sportline in red when I was about 29
Mk 4 1.8T GTi in Metallic dark blue when I was 34
Since im 38 I spose it had to come around again! All cars were very competent, looking for competent and cracking drive with this one!
Think Clarkson summed it up perfectly when he said it is all things to all men - take it everyone has downloaded the Top Gear review vid from Racingflix.com...

-
I called the dealer again today - apparently mine was build week 37 - so was built last week and is now awaiting assignment... once its assigned he will have a delivery date for me. Has anyone had theirs delivered from week 33, 34, 35 yet - just wondering when it might turn up especially since MOT on my trade in expires on 8 October!

Golf GTI Edition 30
Diamond Black
3-Door
Manual
Sat Nav
Front Centre Arm Rest
I-Pod connection
Multifunction Steering Wheel
Nasty Pescara Alloys
Cruise Control
Xenon Headlights
Luxury Pack 1
Winter Pack
Rear tinted windows
Highline MFA
Front and Rear Speaker Upgrade – still wondering about this as I have read comments on this forum about the GTI door cards not being able to cope with the sound…
I am beginning to sort of regret getting the Edition 30 but I'm a mug so have to have it. The only thing I am looking forward to is the extra 27hp I will sorely miss the 18†Monzas and would have bought some to go on the car - not the black ones - had it not been for the fact that I am buying some BBS 19" alloys.
I just cannot understand why VW always do this - deliver a class leading vehicle but then also disappoint on many fronts until you wonder whether you are being ripped off? Their 'conservatism' is really beginning to p155 me off.
-
illyun, are you keeping the R32 in your sig pic or trading it in against the Ed 30 it?
-
Well I am planning on keeping the Edition 30 for good. I was planning to sell the R32 but then it arrived later than planned so I decided to keep it - together with the Edition 30 - until August this year. Now I am seriously thinking whether I should get on the property ladder instead of having 2 cars on the driveway worth £58k+ on the driveway. I love the R32 and it has almost 9000 miles on the clock after only 2 1/2 months  . I don't want to sell the R32, but the money could come in use towards a deposit - I can always buy another R32 after all. I will decide this week what I shall be doing. Brilliant car - bit heavy on fuel though.
-
best thing about the car is the sound - AWESOME...
-
I heard a great saying once.....
Have a house you can't afford and a car you can afford to loose.
-
Welcome to my world Illyun! Stupid house prices.....
-
A new shape BMW 5 series Touring for the wife and for my self I am putting my self down for an Audi R8 taxfree, whilst I can still get tax free. Selling my Gti and Rx8. I am glad I got on teh hosue market earlier, as the profits from the houses, when I sell allow me to buy my new toys. End result is going to be a big ass house and my aston and bently on the drive. Dream, that is.
-
Ill mate - Buy a house
-
I know - it will have to be a house  - I am a bit complacent because I earn good money in IT - but it won't last forever. Hopwever, I'll probably be able to get another new VW in September - or next March. Hang on, I almost forgot - i'll still have the Edition 30!!!
