Title: The tank
Post by: Async on 21 December 2003, 18:54
Hello everyone, whilst out driving my beloved 8v GTI this afternoon, one minute she is running perfectly, the next thing I know I am driving a car which sounded more like a tank and had absolutley sweet FA acceleration, so I realised it's not firing properly. So I go and buy some new plugs and swap them over - I start the motor again and it sounds pucker, I then drive it and it was better but really juddering?? So now I am stuck, do I go out and buy some new HT leads or any one else been in this situation. All help apreciated.  :)

i have had a similar problem with my Fiat Punto, and it was the ht leads, is due to the leads being made out of silicone now and they crack easily!

This has happened twice on  my fiat in just over 20k miles so i would personally check the leads one at a time, disconect one and see if effects the tick over of the engine if not then its that lead, but if you are going to replace one lead you mays well do the lot
