Title: Bosch Distributor
Post by: MikeyB on 21 December 2003, 15:03
Hi people,

I'm after some help with my golf mk1 (1093cc). The problem being the dizzy leaks oil along the shaft, so I was wondering a) is there an internal oil seal? b) if so how do you gain access and c) does anybody know of a repair kit for them?

Its a Bosch dizzy.

cheers,

Merry crimbo.

Two options here, strip your 20 year old distributor and replace the seal, or go to the scrapys and get yourself a dizzy, wiring, coil and ign amp out of a Polo and have a better setup. Sounds like a lot of work, but it's not that hard and the reward would be worth it.
ps, I assume the leak is internal and not from the body to head "o" ring ???.
Steve.

Oops, forgot to say, check the engine breather is clear as these engines were bad for choking them ;).

Hi ya old_boy,

I think I'll take you up on that VERY kind offer.  :o :o ;) ;D

I took my dizzy apart yesterday and it?s not as simple as I first thought. I was hoping that there would be an o-ring seal or something similar but no. It looks like it?s a soft metal collar which is a sung fit around the shaft, doh.

What model is your dizzy? Is it machanical or electronic?

Cheers,

Mikey.

p.s All the best for the new year!  ;D
