Post by: dubaudio1 on 18 July 2006, 07:17
hi i`m going to change my suspension on my 8v gti. i don`t have lots of money to spend,i have found supersport coilovers (high adjustable).
does any one have them ?
are they ok?
i know you might say go for FK but they are £100 more expensive as i can get the supersport from ebay for about £255 inc.p&p .

Why do you specifically want coilovers??

The phrase 'you get what you pay for' comes to mind here. There are a few decent budget sets out there, Big Boys Toys do the FK coils for £299.....Venom do the Supersport for £299 with delivery, and recon they are an ok set up (well they might say that as they sell them )

might be worth a call to Venom 01254 820005......www.venommotorsport.com (http://www.venommotorsport.com) just to get a better picture of what's out there

The only good reason to opt for coilovers is that you can adjust the ride height.

Now if you think you will want to play around and change the ride of your car on a whim then fine.
Otherwise go for a spring height you want and decent adjustable shocks.

Also remember if you keep changing the height then the steering settings will change! By this I mean the toe in/out, camber and tracking etc. If they are wrong then you will get bad tyre wear!

i`m going to fit new wheels 7,5"- 9" x 16" with 195-215 x 40 x 16 toyo tyres.
i`d like them to set up in perfect high as right now i have spax suspension and front is 10-20mm to high compare to rear.
are the spersport ok to spend money for?
i have checked the other webside and the cheapest coilovers i can get are the supersport  for £312 inc p&p .the fk highsport are more expensive ,so i think £250 for the supersport from ebay is good price.

Would have thought 45 profile would be better on 16" wheels
