:D
I am looking to fit a CAM to my GTi 8v - has anybody done this before, is it worth it?
Anybody know a good website which sell CAMS
Cheers 8)

www.tsr-performance.com (http://www.tsr-performance.com)
normaly give 15 bhp extra

I'd say with yours being an 8v get a cam kit not just the cam from someone like Kent or piper - bit more pennies, but then you get a new set of lifters etc so no more hydraulic clunking !!
Most kits you get valve stem oil seals too .... just nice to ovrhaul the head whilst you have the chance.

go for the cam kit, you'll need everything thats supplied anyway.
don't go to radical on the cam profile if your using the car as a daily driver, wild cams sound sexy but in reality are a b!tch in traffic.
Use someone like TSR who fit cams themselves they may not be as cheap as a no-name.com but their advice and back up could save you the price difference x100.

I wouldn't expect huge power increases like 15bhp, but the power band will be moved. Depending on how wild of a cam you go for. don't go for a race spec one though as it'll be a sod to drive round town.
I've got a piper one and it pulls strong right through the revs.

I had a kent 286 cam in a scirocco 1.8 (carb) and that pulled well from low down to the red line. Don't know what increase I got, but it used to fly.
