Title: Replacement engine, replace gaskets?
Post by: golfmk2boy on 13 July 2006, 15:09
Hi,

I have a replacement digifant engine for my mk2.  Would it be better to replace all of the gaskets (rocker cover, head gasket and manifold gasket)????

Only if you need to really. Why fix it if it isnt broken?

I'd think about doing the inlet & zaust gaskets at least, since they're such a pain to do while the engine is in the car.  Check for oil down the sides of the head, the rocker cover is a good one for leaking.  I wouldn't bother with the head gasket though, even if it does blow later its not too dificult to do.
