When my valver has been running for while a whine appears alomost like the sound of an Eaton charger. Now, I think I have narrowed it down to the PAS pump.........I think, lol
If I rev the engine there is a slight whine. If I go lock to lock & rev it slightly at the same time it whines like a big whiney thing in a whining contest. I take it the PAS pump is driven from the same belt as the water pump, so as the revs rise the pump is working harder?
Normal for PAS a pump on its last legs to be moaning, or have I totally mis diagnosed this??

I think your on the right lines really. Id stick my head under the bonnet and rev away while listening.
-
Yeah will do, need a hand with that though, my arms are'nt quite long enough to rev & steer while my heads under the bonnet!
-
Well you could park it on full lock and operate the rev's with the throttle cable attached to the housing on the top of your engine?
-
Yeah could do, it only seems to do it when the steering wheel is being moved though. The G/F can make herself useful later
Its the only time she'll be in the driver's seat with the engine running!

My power steering pump used to do this, turned out the hydrolic flued resivoir had cracked & was leeking slightly causing the pump to make nice super charger noises!!!!

Cheers daddy, I'll be checking it tonight.
