Title: KR 16v fuel lines
Post by: dscam on 12 July 2006, 12:14
I have finally got round to tackling the messy fuel lines in my engine bay. At the moment it looks like:

and I'd prefer it to look something like:

A couple of the clips and brakcets are missing broken so I ordered the following parts:

Part #'s 051133805, 027133805G, 027133689R, 027133689L

All was well until I tried to clip a braided fuel line into the clip and realised it was not the right size. Basically the clips supplied appear to be for cars fitted with solid fuel lines and not the braided (or rubber) lines.

The pic below is of one of my existing clips (white) with the new ones (black):

VW don't do the white ones anymore it seems so I was wondering if anyone had a set of 3 they could sell/provide (happy to pay P&P) so I can finish this job please?

Also, I assume it is safe enough to undo the fuel lines at the metering head in order to sort them out into some order to run neatly.....at the moment they appear to be quite a jumble. Any precautions I should take?

Many thanks in advance as always!

Duncan

Yeah its quite safe to remove them. Just make sure you dont loose the washers either side. It might be a good idea to renew them actually.

Thanks Ben....will probably do that I think....always good to renew things while they're in bits!

Yeah me too. When you come to restarting turn the key 2 or 3 times before firing in order to prime the system and build the pressure up again.

Thanks again Ben....great ETKA shot and example pic (love that bling bay!!)

I can't for the life of me see where it fits in near to the warm up regulator.....

Also, near to the air intake/metering head; are the clips there attached to anything or is that them holding the fuel lines in their natural position?  Looks very neat like that and what I am hoping to achieve.

No there not attached to anything. Yeah it does look good. Too much hard work for my liking though.
