Hi, I have never understood what a 'blueprinted' engine is and it's affects. Anybody help? Cheers
-
it pretty much means that all the components have been all balanced, lightened and chosen to maximise their performance reliability and to work with each other as best as can be. factory engines are in some way a compromise of making them work and making them cheap to produce.
not quite sure where the term blueprinted comes from but essentially its a rebuild taking every component into account, rather than using whats already there...... that was a crap expaination!!
edit: not vw's but might be worth reading....

Blueprinting actually means, building all the engine components & tollerences to the exact engine specifications, i.e. what is on the 'blueprints'
Any mass produced engine will differ slightly from these, they will be close enough to the specifications to work fine, but not exactly right ;)

Agreed. I used to have a class website saved that explained all types of engine mods but have lost it. It was a company in Northallerton. I had a good look but cant find it anymore.
