Title: WIndscreen
Post by: gybjw on 11 July 2006, 17:25
Driving home earlier and got a chip on the screen, about an 4mm in diameter with cracks spreading in 5 directions about 1-2cm out.

Popped into the RAC place and they reckon £60 for a fix or £80 plus VAT for a new one. The guy reckoned it definately needed replacing or fixing. Is this a reasonable price as I've never had to replace a windscreen?

Thats not a bad price but if you could get one from a scrappy and just give RAC a tenner cash to fit it on a lunch break i am sure they would.

Very reasonable, I'd pay that for sure!  Ask about a green tint one with a sunstrip, I think they look
course I'm biased:

Yeah like the tint looks good. Not so sure it'd look the business on a Tornado pink though!!

Check your insurance, if your fully comp you can usually get it replaced on an excess without dinting your NCB :)

Bit the bullet had to get it done only had today then no time with work committments and stuff. Cost £94 in the end but the RAC Autowindscreen place were great, only took 20 mins, can't even tell they'd done it - apart from my screenwas clean for the first time in months and there's no big crack in it!
