Does anyone know how much I should expect to pay for my cylinder head to be skimmed?
Who can I get it done from?
Im in bedfordshire if that helps
Cheers

I'm not sure how much it should cost but I know that I can get mine done for ?40.
Your best bet is to take it to a place that aren't performance specialist because they will just rip you off.

just take it to a machining shop, we pay about 20 quid at a local spot.
any engineering place will be able to do it for you, yellow pages it, see whsats local to you

had head skimmed once by a machining shop for ?20
1 month down road golf decided to act like a red arrow and fill road with smoke.
sent head away to be pressure tested, refaced and something else, by a sigma engineering company and it cost ?90 and now six months later no problem

local machine shop to me is spot on. everyone uses them for head skimming. theyve presed liners into my vauxhall turbo engine and all manor of bolt tapping into bizzarre places over the years for me. just depends where you take it. maybe dodgy machine shop. they work on engines all the time at the one i use so theyre probably more used to doing things like that.
90 quid seems a bit extreme to me really
