Just managed to get hold of a smoothed out plinth for the car already painted my car's colour (bonus!).. So was just wondering how i'd go about fixing up a solenoid to the boot so that I can open it once the locks gone. Anyone done this before or is there a 'how to' posted anywhere on the net? Also anyone know where I can get a decent solenoid from?

is it for that mk3 in your sig?
i have a solenoid on mine and i ran it off the rear wiper as i got rid of that ages ago. you'll have to run some wiring through to the boot (obviously) with a switch one end and the solenoid the other. i got my solenoid off an orion in a scrapyard. not sure of the mechanism on a mk3 so best bet is to take the trim off and see how the catch operates and then orientate the solenoid to release it.
i'm a dunce with electrics but i found it quite easy. someone might be able to advise on how to wire it up properly.
failing that bigboystoys do solenoid kits so everything you need should be there. might be easier than trying to bodge something.

Yeah the plinth is for the car in the sig...
Going from what you've said it doesn't sound too hard to run, but pretty much like yourself i'm no whizz with electrics.. I'll pop the trim cover off and look at the mechansim and catches and then take a look at bog boys toys for their kits. Defo don't want to go down the 'bodge up' route.
