Title: Just lowered my car 60/40, and now the front end is too low...!!!!
Post by: BigDaveC on 10 July 2006, 18:27
Bugger...I've just had by car slammed 60/40, but the front end scrubs and the spoiler is too low to the ground for speed humps !!!!!!!!!!! Looks pretty good though. ATS Cups are next to be put on.
Had to buy -40 springs and get them fitted !! I'm deffo scrubbin' with my dubbin'....

Had a similar problem myself but the other way round.. Dropped mine with Eibach springs and the rear sits lower than the front lol..

The drop looks good on yours though.. Have put lowering springs on using original dampers or have you uprated the whole lot?

Uprated the whole lot. Original dampers were proper fooked, although drove ok ?

Yeah, have a feeling the rear dropping more than the front could be related to the dampers. But those were replaced about a year ago by the previous owner via a VW dealership. So i'm a little stumped as to why the front sits so high! Have got hold of some lowering caps to bring down another 10-15mm just have to get round to fitting them.. But in the not so distant future I want to get round to changing the shocks with some decent ones.. that is when funds allow it

yeah, strange the rear sits so low ?
Are the deffo the same size springs ? Have the rears got cup adjusters on ?
My 60mm drop is more like a bloody 80mm drop ! Got it booked in at 2pm to put the 40mm on ! Another £80 down the shoot.....!

Thought it was strange myself, The garage that fitted the springs said the front would settle down more once they bed in.. It settled a touch yes but nowhere near as much as the rear.. The spring sizes are correct so unless it's something else which I am yet to put my finger on. As to whether the rears have cup adjusters on I'm not too sure.

ok. The car has now got 35mm front springs on !  and it's still low. Any more of a drop would be impractical.  It may not have looked like is was low, but is was!!
Sorry for the improper use of 'old skool 'slam' ! But I do like a little bounce to my ride and not scraping the arches every time I turn the wheel, went round a roundabout or speed hump !
It was on tip toes esp at the front before, so has to be better now !
I had a CL spoiler before and changed it for the VR6 one. This height seems just right. The ET of the ATS cup are 33 as opposed to the ET45 that is on now, and should just fill the arches a bit better. Wider tyres are possibly an option, but I have a whole heap of 185's to use !

Here are the new pics with the NEW front ride height. Mudflaps are to be removed.!

Mudflaps have now been taken off because they scraped on the speed bumps. I can't wait to get my ATS Cups put on, they should make the world of differernce and compliment the lowering.

cheers man ! Yours looks quite low already.?

It's seems much quicker now, the old suspension was knackered and soggy !
Mudflaps taken off and CL spoiler put back on. ( i do need it to be practical for driving!)

14" x 6 ATS Cups don't really have a dish which is dissapointing, but I 'd like to keep the existing dimensions and setup.

Had a go trying them on to see what they'd look like after the refurb  :embarassed:-

who did the lowering for you as this happened on mine, i put the front suspension back to gether the wrong way around and the car was as low as your is in the pictures, someone emailed me a picture of how the suspension went back together part for part and i followed this and it was at the right height of 60mm.  i would definetley check that that its all been put back together they way it came off.

but I suppose those 14inch ats cups dont really pick it up off the floor much.
