Title: MFA Not doing anything.
Post by: kappatango on 09 July 2006, 00:15
Ok, The MFA does nothing except show random sections of the LCD lit up.

The Button on the arm doesnt do anything/make it change at all.

Is there a reset or do you think its facked?

My first Golf GTi and just looking for a pointer.....

Thanks

What car is this on as the 8v and 16v has different fuses feeding the MFA.
Think its fuse 3 on 8v and fuse 21 on 16v but dont quote me on this

yeah sry its on the 8v.  I wasnt sure if just pulling and replacing the fuse would do it.  TBH I am a bit of a newb when it comes to any sort of mechanics and electrics but am very willing to learn.

OK this is really simple but now I cant even find the fuse box - i feel a real dumb ass.

I had this problem and without knowing it fix it when I was installing my stereo. :nerd: A fuse blew and I changed it then my MFA worked again.

Thanks for your help guys - Found the fuse, pulled it out for 10 secs.  And now its all good FUSE 3 is the way to go!!!

NOw this may be stoopid but I am just gonna ask away.  What does the switch do next to the MFA button.  The one that says 0 1 2 0 and will only "bump" across to the 0's either end but will stick at either 1 or 2??

And am i Right that the MFA shows

1: Total Drive Time
2: Total Miles
3: Average MPH
4: MPG
5: Oil Temp
6: Outside Temp

And obviously the time.....

Sorry to appear dumb but I am.......

Position one is for trip time and miles and resets itself after being stood for 20 mins or so, position 2 is total miles/time. To clear the data in either one you hold the switch to the nearest zero then release.
