Been visiting the site for a few weeks now and finally decided it was time i intro'd myself.
Driving a red 1988 mk2 16valver. pretty standard apart from big bumpers, twin upswept backbox, lowered 30mm and clear indicators.
Owned it for about four months now and gotta admit i love it! What an engine!
Done a load of jobs since i got it and must admit its a great car to work on and so far all the jobs have been through choice no breakdowns!!!!
Will be about on the site alot as its a wealth of knowledge so you'll all prob get fed up with all my questions.
Oh n to start me off anyone know any electric window motors that fit the mk2 golf? (apart from mk2 ones that is)
-
You can get universal kits and I believe Wolfe still make a specially tailored kit for the mk2 - volkspares used to do them 0208 778 7766 and I've seen them in the Eurocar Parts Catalogues before 0208 697 8805
A lot of people prefer to stick with the manual windows as electrics add weight to the car which in turn slow it down, not a lot but every second counts on the drag strip

Thanks for that mate
Prob should have said that i already have leccy windows but the drivers side motor has a damaged plastic arm so need a replacement and dont wanna buy a new one, lookin for a cheap scrapyard alternative

Think you answered your question right there, get down the scrappies  that'll be a dealer only part and it'll probably cost a small fortune if they actually still sell them

Hi all
Yeah its the red one. The mk1 i just like the look of.
Doesn't look so good from the rear at the minute. A mix of red and grey primer. Looks better than the rust that was there before tho
gonna get that sprayed once the mot's passed and then ill have a nice smooth rear end! All done by my own hands, was a whole load of work but well worth it and ive got a near perfect finish so well pleased. that'll be another job ticked off the list
