Just thought i'd share this one with you guys as it is VERY effective!
I got some "Combilay" laminate flooring underlay from B&Q last night and have lined my doors, rear 3/4 panels and boot floor with it. It costs 18 quid for 10 square meters and is probably about 2mm thick. Even comes with a roll of tape. Best bit is though, the whole pack weighed about the same as my phone!
So far i have stuck 2 layers on the front doors and 3 layers behind the trim cards in the back. This alone made a lot of difference but i then went down argos and got 4 pillows for 7 quid and shoved 2 of these in each side behind the cards and that has made a hell of a difference! Thinking of taking out all the seats and putting a couple of layers under the carpet next as i have so much left over.
Any other suggestions to where it will be effective?
Ben.

pillows aint a bad idea

only problem with the pillows I can see is they may trap moisture, which aint good when they're stuffed up against the body shell.

Hmmm, would they? Didn't think about that. It was bone dry when i took the cards out though.
Having said that, the underlay is waterproof as it can be used as a damp-proof membrane under the laminate flooring and i have taped this to the body. Rekon that'll work?

Yeah I recon it should be ok. There wont be a massive ammount of moisture under there anyway, but obviously during the summer it should be bone dry. In the winter you'll get a bit more, I'd check it at some point after winter is upon us just to be sure :)

I bought some of that combi-lay stuff last night after reading what you said. I'm gonna do some work on the car at the weekend so will add it then and let you know what I think, but to be honest you can't really go wrong for 18 quid can you!
