Title: mk2 springs on mk1?
Post by: Si on 06 July 2006, 14:36
Im breaking my mk2, (which has 80mm lowering springs). As im lowering my new caddy i thought id ask to see if the front springs of mk2 would fit on front of mk1 caddy?

Obviously its leaf springs on rear so just interested in front!

My mates got a set of mk1 Koni's with cut down mk2 16v springs in (done right ) - I'll ask him for more info on them.

You sure about those leafsprings - I thought it was just old fords & other wooden cart type pile's of sh!te that had them  :undecided:

Mk2 springs will happily fit later Mk1
Mk1 just needs to have springs with the tapering diameter at the top. Infact if it doesn't you could probably still use the Mk2 springs so long as you swap the top spring caps over too.
My Mk1 Cab runs Mk28V front springs with half a coil cut off to stop it sitting too high. The Mk2 springs are a bit stiffer and are better suited to the weight of the cab
