Hi Guys, I own a Mk4 V6 4Motion which has just gone in for a service and ive been stung (£380!!) for new cooling fans which have burnt out due to being stuck in the high setting permanently...
I know this is a common fault from the info on this forum, but it seems as though this problem has been there since manufacture and is not just down to normal wear and tear. The mechanic himself was very honest and thinks its an electronic problem which leaves the fans in high setting
What do you reckon my chances are of getting any money back from VW direct if i claim its been a fault since manufacture?
Thanks for your help

Hi,
My 4motion has the same problem whereby the fans dont kick in at all. The attempt to start but all i get is a vibration as if they are trying to start. The temp goes high too. The car has only done 30k and i im well cheesed off!! To add to the matter the service is due too and im not looking forward to the quote they give me.

Sorry but i dont think they will do anything as there are so many common faults on the mk4. Only the most common and problematic like the plastic window clips are finally getting sorted if your cars within six years from new. But saying that it cant hurt to try.

I have just spoke to VW and the other way round it was to replace the fuse which is burnt out but by doing this it could re-occurr at anytime, and best of all is that they charge £15 for it!
Will see how this goes as its alot better than forking out £400+
