earlier today after about an hour and a halfs worth of motorway driving when i got to some slower roads i put the clutch in and the car stalled, but after it stalled the rev counter went up to 7, then back down to 0 again. it started fine straight after, but ive left it for an hour and gone to start it and the fuel pump wont come on and the isv wont buzz and the immoboliser light stays on even thoough its off
i dont know where to start looking really, is there a way of bypassing the immobiliser temporarily to see if its to do with that?
man i hate electroncs
-
also the electric windows dont work
-
Do any of the electrics work at all?
-
yes the immobiliser like half goes off because i can turn over the engine fine (you cant with immobiliser on) indicators work, rear screen works, i dunno about the stereo because it didnt work anyway!
ive checcked all fuses, some relays that i had spares of but not all, the ignition module behind ash tray is ok and all grounds seem ok :undecided:
-
perhaps your ign switch has gone?
-
i do have a new one at home that i am going to try tonight thats what ed suggested last night as the old one was a bit temperamental. i didnt think it could wipe out half the electronics!
good news is noone tried to rob my car with the windows wide open last night
-
Yeah all the ign live bits work off it :)
-
I had a similar issue once. Turned out that one of the 2 main ignition wires had burnt out. I lost my headlights as well as the other things you have already described. Although i think you would of noticed if yours had done the same, i was kinda choking on smoke.
-
Try running the fuel pump directly off the battery, if it starts then its likely to be something to do with the immobiliser.
-
its not the ignition switch
-
What make model immobiliser is it? if it has 2 cuts they will be starter and fuel pump. It may be that the fuse on the alarm has gone making the car act wierd?
-
its a laserline 921 immoboliser without an alarm. the fuse for it is ok. it does seem like the immobiliser but i dont think it will cut the leccy windows :undecided:
-
you tried the fuel pump thing yet then we can find out if its immobiliser problem?
had any joy? no one at work got any ideas?
-
turns out i had 2 problems that i was diagnosing as 1, the immobiliser was indeed f**ked which has now been removed and drop kicked over the fence, and the window relay went at the same time
cheers for the advice guys  im up and running again
