is it easy to do your self , do u just take the old grill of disconnect the inner lights then fit a single headlight grill?
cheers dom
-
yeah thats pretty much it lol
-
I would take the bottom trim off the old grille for the new one as well
-
sound , what would i do with the wire i'd disconnected , just trim them back and is the grille easy to take off ?
-
The two wires should have a shroud on each of the connectors....I have left them in there in case I decide to revert back again to the quad light set up...you never know
As for removeal, there should be 2 posidrive screws at the top into the slam plate, the rest just unclips....REALLY easy job

Just unplug the smaller inner lamps and tie the plug up out the way somewhere. Its also a good idea to blob some grease on the contacts of the old plug to stop them corroding in case you ever want to use them again.
-
I keep toying with this idea myself. Aren't the inner headlights the main beam though? How do you get main beam selection using just the outers? (I'm going to pre-empt a :embarassed: here incase it is blantantly obvious).
-
Its amazing how many people ask this question. No the Inners are not your main beam. If you ever get a chance to look at your bulbs in your larger lights you will see that they have 2 filaments. 1 is for dipped beam and the other for main beam. The inners are there simply to help out your existing larger lamps.
If you dont belive me then unplug your inners and stand infront watching while somebody puts main beam on! Prepare to see stars!
Oh and if your wondering where the sidelights work from, its a completely seperate small bulb.
-
Ahaaaaaaaa! I think another :embarassed: will suffice here. Me thinks once the audio is sorted it's a toss between a full Mongoose SS system or a 2 lamp/grill conversion. Cheers for the enlightenment.
-
No prob.
-
If your going to do a 2 lamp conversion, to ensure a clear main beam upgrade the loom just the same as you would upgrade for dipped beam
-
What do you mean by uprgrading the loom? Do you mean the whole loom? This is starting to sound like a faf.
-
No its not that big a job, some one on here sells ( or use to sell) the looms or make one up yourself.
Click on the link below for full instructions, although the link is for dipped headlights, just follow the same guidelines but switch the dipped wire for the main beam wire and hey presto.

If you are going to convert i suggest you carry out this for both dipped and main beam, the difference is surprising

Dizzie used to make them. Basicly they get the power direct from the battery and yes it does improve the brightness of your lights. No essential though.
