Title: Major Fuel Problem
Post by: JB G60 on 01 July 2006, 00:19
Hi,
My Golf is actin rotten at the momemt, she starts up after about 15-30 seconds of turning over and idles roughly if i go to rev it, it will just die straight away, the injectors looked a bit worn so I replaced them with some off ebay along with the fuel pressure regulator switch. New fuel filter aswell. Its a G60 conversion by the way, anyone have any ideas?
Thanks

Do G60's have a blue temp sensor?  If its based on an 8v digi i would guess so....  Yeh worth replacing it anyway if you have one, or i think its actually called the coolant temp sensor. If its fried, the ecu will not choose the appropriate mix of fuel/air for engine temp and so run like a dog.

its on the front of the cylinder head on the flange that the water pipes run in to. its held in by a little clip that pulls out then the blue thing lifts out

Replaced the blue temp sensor, no difference, car will start revs will go up and down a bit for about a minute then just cut out. any hint of a rev by me and it cuts straight out aswell.

Was it a genuine VAG one you replaced it with?  I had the same problems caused by a sh!tty GSF sensor.

check the idle switch clicks when the throttle is closed, and the wiring gets 5v with the ignition on.  Also check the throttle switches are actually working with a multimeter.
