Title: Loud exhaust on a Diesel?
Post by: Si on 30 June 2006, 14:20
Just got myself a 89 Mk1 Caddy, plan is to restore it, then lower it -A LOT, and make it look old skool.

Trouble is its a 1.6 Diesel...  Anyway im happy with the 600 mile to a tank fuel consumption so gonna stick with it (may Turbo it in future) but i got given a 4 inch slash cut stainless back box, what do diesels sound like with big exhausts?
Any good or shall i just leave it sounding standard?

No point in drawing attention to the exhaust as it only ever emits thick black smoke and as far as the sound...they already sound horrible, why increase it?

Hi

I beg to differ.  I hate coal burners, but owning a omega 2.5td estate (please don't hurt me, it was cheep and keeps my dog from distroying my MK1's mint interior)  and having the exhaust fall off made it sound like a 9 litre monster car, proper deep note.  Do it, what have you got to loose, a hour of your time swapping it back?
