hello guys, i'm new to forum,i hope someone can help. i have had my year 2000 golf 4 years now, only 42k on the clock, serviced annually but not at v.w. because of a bad experience.
i had the car serviced early june (local garage i have used many times) with the m.o.t.,but they didnt pick up on my problem, i.e. when driving off from stationary the car pulls up quite sharp and almost stops, then suddenly surges forward, this is especially noticeable on cornering and at islands. i mentioned it to the garage owner after the service had been done and had to book it back in for a bosch diagnostic check. anyway they done the check and fitted new h.t. leads at a cost of £42, but no change to performance. anyway they had the car back and when i picked it up something about airflow was muttered, i test drove the car and it seemed much better. i paid the man the money i owed, after deducting the cost of the h.t. leads it totalled £127. anyhow the problem has come back gradually and after 5 days now it is as bad as ever. as i mentioned earlier i had a bad experience with the main dealers after the cars warranty had expired. after paying £220 for a service they told me that there was some problems they'de found i.e, worn strut mounts, rear washer motor needed replacing and something else i cant remember what now, and i also needed a new oxygen sensor(£770+v.a.t. all in). i got this checked at 2 other places and the only thing needed doing was a pipe re-connecting to the rear washer motor. what i'm wondering is, has my current problem got anything to do with the oxygen sensor?. any help appreciated and i will post the end results to any interested.
thanks in anticipation

Have you tried cleaning your throttle cable??
The lard type gunk that VW put onto my throttle solidified, causing it to stick..... Muppets!

i will look at that after i finish work today, but accelerater works pretty smooth so i doubt if its that. i have been having this problem about 2 months now so i know it's nothing that the garage caused
cheers

Could be the throttle body but on the 2.0l's there a pain to take apart.
