It would appear as though my rear driver side light cluster is starting to let in a bit of water every now and then, is the best and easiest fix just to get a new gasget from VW (are they still available ?)or does anyone know another better, simpler or easier way of curing this problem, thanks

Anyone ? me carpets starting to whiff a bit
-
scrappy and pilfer one.
-
Might sound a daft question but is your rear washer working?
-
I know what your getting at mate and it worked fine the last time I used it, if it was the washer fluid I would notice the smell and colour wouldnt I ?
-
Depends if you use screen wash or just plain water.
-
Mines leaking in the exact same place. If you find a cure...let me know!
-
Sorry I should have been clearer, I do use screen wash in a 50/50 mix and its blue and stinks. When I put the car in the garage the other night I just left the boot wide open and propped up the carpet to give it chance to dry out butif its happened once there no reason why it wont leak again :undecided:

Remove the lens and add some sealant gel (name escapes me). It doesn't act like a glue but purely as a air tight sealant. They all came with this from the factory but obviously if you have had lenses on and off this would need to be renewed.
-
Screen wash is for girls!!!!!
-
Why not use some clear silicone sealant, that stuff works a treat.

Thanks for all the ideas, I'm hoping to get some half tint rear lenses so if I get um I'll make sure they're well sealed when I fit um

Nah dont bother doing that, just half tint the ones you have, is easy to do and costs about £12 in total ;). If you cant get the old ones to seal though it might be worthwhile.
Silicone can be bought at B & Q etc for about £5 and be used on loads of other bits too :nerd:

id go silicone everytime mate!

Well thanks again for all the help and advice, appreciate it and I've got some half smoked rear lights that should be with me in about a week. The seals are with them so I'll sort out the best ones out of the four when I've got the ones off the car and do the best I can with um and hope that sorts it out
