Not a fan of it design wise (on the outside). But I reckon it will be like a lounge on the inside, very smart. Need to watch you dont fall asleep on those couches inside. Especially if you have the massager fitted

Don't believe that you only come for business here Doc - you def have a soft spot for VW's   and you have offered help for free on the forum... so ignore the green eyed comments as they don't know how hard it is to go into business for yourself... it takes guts and determination - I should know as I am setting up in IT. But the potential rewards are great - as you know.

You can't change the springs as is has none being air suspension - I bought it to help develop the software to lower them!
You can change the ride height and lower the car at when stopped but it lifts as the car goes faster!

Keep up the good work.

Good on the Doc I reckon! he clearly loves his cars and is happy to spend hard earned on them..
Personally I love cars but hate rinsing cash on them, hence I'm a stingy sod on the extras list, despise depreciation and usually buy a year old - new Boxster!

Just a thought about something you said////, (and you don't have to answer this) - do the main dealers and private garages have much demand for 'mileage adjustment??

I have always checked the service history with main dealer computers.. But i suppose these new 2 year / long life service schedules are a rogue dealers delight as there is less official documentation to substantiate mileage over time.
Title: Re: I bought a Phaeton and it's very, very good
Post by: The Doc on 30 June 2006, 19:31
MAIN DEALERS DONT "CLOCK" CARS 100% - why would they? Neither do most car garages these days thanks to big prison sentences.

They like my other customers have legit reasons to use us!

If we get phone call asking us to CLOCK cars etc we send 'em packing!

Doc, my previous 2 posts were a bit of banter, after all, we've all got a common interest and I appreciate the help you've given me and, no doubt, many others.

A question for you and don't answer if you don't want to, but what is a legit reason to clock a cars mileage?

just a quicky doc, but i thought all second hand cars had to have a disclaimer or regarded as not having the correct mileage. i.e when you go to a dealer they all have the"magical sticker in the window"

Any ideas if i could drop the engine into my golf

really spooky watching them go by cos they hardly make a sound! all you could really hear was the gear changes!

got a bit of a funny story about the camper van.

went blasting past it without taking a photo.  so pulled into a layby off the motorway and waited for it to go past.  caught up and took a photo.  then we thought, 'crikey we'll be miles behind our mates' so put the foot to the floor in an attempt to catch up.

by the time we reached Calais we realised we had passed them ages ago and had pulled away   we ended up catching an earlier shuttle and left a few peeps behind!

I worked for the company that makes the air-con system for the Phaeton. During development, there was a plan to include a feature which reversed the fans when you unlocked the car on a hot day, removing the hot air from the ducts. This would ensure that when you started the engine, only cold air would come out instead of the obligatory burst of heat...
Just wondered if this ever happened?

"ignore the peasants!" -  ILMFAO Thanks dude - your right but it adds fuel to their little fire and gives me a giggle!

PLUS they'd sh1t if they saw the propertys we own!

The fact we do not  show pictures of our other cars and pictures of our "propertys " does not mean we have not got them!!!!!! This is  golf gti forum not a "see what I'VE got, mines is bigger than yous"

If we all kept the chat to gti's and r32's then there would not be a problem!!!!!!!!

Oh do shut up.

Maybe it works with the solar roof (which mine did not have)

Doc, yes, I remember some mention of the solar roof... While I'm on my soap box, the company was developing a system which would inject oxygen into the cabin to reduce driver fatigue. Not quite sure how it could tell if you were tired though!? (I think this was for markets with pollution/smog sensors, where the recirc is operated automatically)
