I saw the pictures of the engine to locate the ISV and I din't see what you were talking about sorry for the ignorance.( I know the american is vdub stupid) The books we have here show nothing for the isv maybe I'll let a vw mechanic show me were it is. :huh:

No worries mate, it sits on top of the engine, not too far from your oil filler cap. It's a cylindrical shaped piece of metal, alloy in colour. Will have a vacuam pipe coming off the left towards the air system, and on of the back. Also an electrical block connector on the right. Sorry it's a bit vague but I have no pictures. You can't really miss it though.

In this pic, its the metal bit just above the rocker cover, silver on 1 side and brown on the other with a white lable on it. Just to the right of the black round thing ;)
